Supporting partner: GoM

The villages surrounding the blocks of Ashti and Karanja blocks of Wardha district are inhabited by tribal people. Illiteracy and backwardness have kept these tribals from the mainstream society. Using of fertilizers and insecticides from the market has degraded the quality of soil leading to low output due to higher input costs. This has put them in the vicious cycle of indebtedness as they borrow money for harvesting from money-lenders who use exploitative terms for recovering the loans. The organization responded to this distress situation of the tribal people by first generating awareness of adopting organic farming and later invited technical persons from ‘Gramopayogi Vidgyan Kendra’, Dattapur to impart training in organic farming. 200 tribal from 6 villages of Ashti block and 5 villages of Karanja block participated.
